Founded in 1976, Rideauwood Addiction and Family Service is a Registered Charity serving adults, adolescents and family members. We provide non-residential, group and individual treatment, public education, training and consultation. Rideauwood also has an extensive volunteer program that provides essential services to the agency. We currently provide the following programs:

Adult and Family Programs

* Adult Addictions Program
This is an out patient treatment program for men and women addicted to alcohol and/or other mood altering chemicals.

* Family Member Program
This program offers education, crisis support and counselling to adults whose lives have been affected by chemical dependence in the family.

* Problem Gambling
This program assists people who have gambling problems.

* Gambling Family Member
This program provides education and counselling for family members in distress.

* Chemical Dependency - The Family Spiral
This program is for spouses, partners, parents and adult children of adults with addiction problems or anyone else who wants to learn more about chemical dependency and its effects. Teens age 16 and over can benefit from attending.

* Family of Origin Program
This program is an advanced personal awareness and personal growth group specifically for adults who were children from dysfunctional backgrounds and who want to address some continuing issues.

* Ontario Works Addiction
This program is an initiative of the City of Ottawa, Employment and Financial Assistance Branch. Rideauwood is one of 3 community addiction agencies selected to provide prompt service to Ontario Works clients whose employment potential may be impeded by a substance abuse problem.

* Drug Treatment Court
The Ottawa Drug Treatment Court (DTC) is a court specially designed to deal with non-violent, repeat offenders who are addicted to drugs. Participants receive intensive treatment tailored to their particular needs while appearing in Court twice weekly.

* Concurrent Disorders
The Canadian Mental Health Association partners with community addiction agencies to provide addiction focused treatment services for their clients who are homeless and have both substance abuse and mental health issues.

* Individualized Counselling Program
This fee for service program is open to men and women of all ages who want to work on addiction related issues on an individual basis where such services are not available at Rideauwood or elsewhere in a funded service or for support while waiting to access an addiction program.

Teen and Parent Programs

* St. Mary’s Program - For Pregnant and Parenting Young Women
This Program is for you if you are pregnant or parenting children under 6 years of age and you are experiencing difficulty related to alcohol and/or drugs.

* Teen Substance Abuse Program (Ages 13 – 19)
The Teen Substance Abuse Program offers teens aged 13-19, a supportive environment to explore issues related to their use of alcohol and other drugs. The Teen Substance Abuse Program has two components, a Discovery Program and a Recovery Program. There is a parallel Parent Program

* Parent Program
This program offers education, crisis support and counselling to parents who are concerned about their teen(s) who are abusing alcohol and/or drugs.

* School Based Program
Rideauwood's School Based Program is provided to 38 English language high schools in the Ottawa Carleton Catholic School Board (OCCSB) and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). The Program serves students who have problems in and out of school related to alcohol/drug use. Services are also provided to students' parents/families. Rideauwood trains school staff to make effective referrals of students into the School Based Program.
